Builder-grade yards in newer Frisco neighbourhoods

A large share of Frisco housing went up in the last few decades, and the standard handover is thin sod, a couple of shrubs by the porch and nothing else. We fill in from there: bed lines that follow the shape of the house, planting that suits a west-facing front, and mulch deep enough to hold moisture through July.

Because the lots tend to be close together, we plan for narrow side yards and gate access before we start, so mowers and materials can get in and out without cutting through a neighbour's turf.

Fences on shifting blackland clay

Frisco sits on the blackland prairie, and that clay swells with rain then pulls back in the dry months. Fence posts follow it. That is why panels lean, gates stop latching and boards gap after a few seasons.

When we build or repair a fence here we set posts with that movement in mind and check the run against the grade rather than assuming the ground is level. On repairs we will tell you plainly whether a section can be reset or whether the line needs replacing.

Working around HOA rules and watering limits

Many Frisco neighbourhoods have front-yard standards written into the HOA documents, covering things like fence style, height and visible bed edging. We work to whatever your association allows and keep the finished look consistent along the street.

Summer here is long and hot, and outdoor watering is usually restricted. We mow at a height that shades the roots, keep blades sharp so the grass is not shredded, and steer planting toward material that can take North Texas heat once established.
